Our guiding scripture for Children’s Ministry at Cornerstone Church is Deuteronomy 6:5-9. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
Our heart as your children’s pastors is to come alongside your family to help you shepherd your children effectively. We want to equip you so that Sunday morning is just a small part of what God is doing within their family throughout the week.

Who We are

Cornerstone Kidz is more than a Sunday school, it is a movement! We believe that our children are the next generation and because of that, they are the greatest investment into the kingdom of God. Our goal on Sunday mornings is to equip them for the darkness they are faced with every day by sowing the word of God into their lives in a fun and relevant way. We believe by doing this, we are helping raise up a generation that will carry the torch for the Kingdom of God and walk into their God-given destiny!

what we do

Every month, Cornerstone Kidz learn a new theme of principles from God's word. Each lesson includes fun warm ups, games, scriptures for them to learn, time to pray for anything on their hearts, and of course lots of fun, snacks, and music! We also provide parents with a Parent Review at the beginning of each month so you know what your children are learning and what to talk about on that car ride home.

We have an amazing group of volunteers that have a passion to love and teach children. Each teacher/ assistant teacher must be a born again believer, is required to sign a code of conduct as well as complete a background check before working in the children's ministry. Our volunteers are vetted, trained and love building relationships with your kids and pointing them to Jesus!

kidz ministry sundays

We have a wonderful team of teachers, volunteers, and pastors that offer kid's ministry every Sunday, at all 3 of our morning services. We do worship, activities, snacks, and more! Your kids will have their own little service in our Kids Ministry area that will teach them about the things of God and the heart that God has for them. special events

We do a number of special events throughout the year including: FestiFall, Bike Bonanza, and Summer Fest. These events are FREE and an opportunity for you to have some good, clean fun with your kids and get to know us and other families in the church better. Vacation Bible school - vbs

The BEST week of the summer! Each year in the end of June, Cornerstone Kids takes over the Cornerstone Campus! We have dynamic opening and closing worship services and the kids rotate through awesome stations that include games, snacks, Bible, experiments, crafts and so much more! It is like a summer camp that engulfs your kids in the Word of God through fun and engaging activities. You do not want to miss VBS!

Jaclyn & Shawn Mattison

Children's Pastors

Shawn and Jaclyn Mattison are the Children's Pastors at Cornerstone Church. Shawn has been a police officer for over 20 years and owns his own property maintenance company. Jaclyn has been in education for over 20 years and has held positions in public and private schools both in the classroom and in administration. She is a professor for Liberty University and has been in ministry for over a decade. Shawn and Jaclyn have 7 children (yes, you read that correctly!). They love having a big family and are blessed to have them so involved in ministry with them. Shawn loves to golf and hunt, although his time for those things are currently limited. Jaclyn loves to spend time on the beach, no matter the season, loves all things fall (except anything remotely spooky) and is a big Hallmark movie fan. Shawn and Jaclyn firmly believe that children ARE the church and that God can do BIG things in and through them, despite their age. They are passionate about coming alongside parents to help them navigate the difficulties we all face in parenting. Shawn and Jaclyn are dedicated to providing a fun and safe environment where kids can learn that they are loved by God, can have a personal relationship with Him and can do great things for Him.
